Cut the Cereal Sugar

What kid doesn’t love cereal?!?  If you are a mom trying to minimize the amount of added sugar your child consumes, finding a cereal that they like can be VERY difficult!  Plain old Cheerios are are great option as they only have 1 gram or sugar.  My kids haven’t eaten plain old Cheerios since they were toddlers. However, they will eat Multi-Grain Cheerios without complaints.  Multi-Grain Cheerios are a fairly low sugar cereal as they only have 6 grams of sugar per serving.

To further reduce the amount of added sugar in their diet I have started mixing the two.  I bought a cereal container and mix the two in it when my kids aren’t around.  I don’t think they have any idea.  I can get away with about 1/3 Multi-Grain and 2/3 Plain Cheerios.

It is a really SIMPLE way to cut sugar.  I would much rather my kids get their added sugar in the form of a cookie or special dessert, where sugar belongs.  In my book it is a big time mom win!  #winning
