Increasing your water intake is one of the easiest things you can do to improve the way you look and feel. The best part is that it really is a simple change. Getting into the habit of drinking water can be difficult but it is something that you can start working on RIGHT NOW!
If you need some statistics to get you motivated here they are…
- 60% of our body is made up of water. Therefore, drinking water and staying hydrated affects the way your body performs.
- Hydration can affect your mood. Dehydration can cause you to be grumpy or even confused.
- Drinking water can help with joint pain by keeping cartilage soft and hydrated.
- Being hydrated helps you flush out waste and bacteria.
- Improve your skin’s color and texture by staying hydrated. Your skin is your biggest organ!
How much water should you drink?
- At the very minimum you should drink half of your weight in ounces of water.
Bonus…by increasing your intake of raw fruits and veggies you are increasing your water intake because fruits and veggies are dense in water.
Easy Changes
- Swap out your soda for a sparkling water
- Make drinking water a habit, have a glass of water with every meal. (If you drink one glass before eating a meal, you may find that you eat less.)
What works for me…

I fill a pitcher with my water intake minimum every morning and I make sure that I finish it by the end of the day. I keep it on the counter as a reminder to drink water throughout the day. When I leave the house I fill up a water bottle with water from the pitcher. It is a great way to gauge how much water I have been drinking throughout the day. Some days are better than others!
