To help battle my cravings while cutting sugar I turned to an essential oil blend. I found a metabolic blend that contained grapefruit peel, lemon peel, peppermint plant, ginger root, and cinnamon bark. After a meal I added a couple of drops to my water and drank it down. While it isn’t a sweet drink, the process helped break the cycle of turning to something sweet. Once the essential oils were in my system they helped do the dirty work of combatting my cravings.
Caution-Some of the oils contained in this blend are what I call hot and spicy oils. Some people find it is best to drink them through a straw especially if you have dry or cracked lips. Also, don’t add oils to plastic containers, it is no good for you! Go with glass, ceramic or stainless steel.

A friend also introduced me to Spry gum. Like I mentioned before, while “detoxing from sugar” I really tried to break the cycle of turning to sweets, but on occasion it was more than I could handle. Spry gum helped during those moments. Spry is sweetened with xylitol, and therefore does not spike blood sugar levels. Once I got over the initial “detox” I found that I no longer needed it.
Spry gum may be hard to find. Many dental offices carry it and it can be found on amazon.
